
John W. Ishii hails from Seattle, USA, and is a photographer who documents travel editorials and hard news throughout Asia. His work has been featured in publications such as Far Eastern Economic Review, Bangkok Post, Bangkok Nation, South China Morning Post, Sydney Morning Herald, New Straits Times, Singapore Straits Times, The Sun, The Star, Sin Chew Jit Poh, Nanyang, China Press, ‘Dynasty’ inflight magazine for China Airlines, ‘Going Places’ inflight magazine for MAS, Cathay Pacific Club magazine, UNICEF, Asiaweek and used by the United Nations in UNDP World Magazine to promote change, helping people build a better life.
Currently based in Kuala Lumpur, he started photography 20 years ago in United States before returning to Malaysia, where he grew up during the 1960′s and 1970′s. His photographs have been exhibited twice in Equatorial Hotel Kuala Lumpur entitled “Vanishing Trades of Malaysia” and “A Child in Asia”. He is synonymous for his quirky blend of form that provokes questions and emotions enabling him to engage in features, events as well as commercial photography.
